Meet Some University Employees

Edmond
As the Finance Manager and Senior Analyst for Community Affairs, Edmond has wide-ranging responsibilities that go beyond a simple definition of his job. He manages the finances and budgets of the Community Affairs Office, which includes the University Police and Real Estate Operations. He also oversees the fiscal operations of various offices in Student Operations. As a Senior Analyst, he plans, writes, and collaborates on special studies of the University and how it relates to the community and the marketplace. In addition, he is involved in many aspects of the administration of Student Operations, often running special committees for the International Affairs Office, Academic Publications, the Bursar's and Registrar's Offices, and Graduate Aid, Planning, and Research.

He appreciates the broad range of responsibilities these jobs demand of him, having to focus on very different skills depending on what kind of project he is currently involved in. This has been his experience with the University for the last 8 years in different positions, but always with the same challenging environment. "The University is so large and offers so much of a range of opportunities that you can grow and develop in more than one area. The bidding system allows you to move internally within the University so you always have the chance to meet interesting new challenges," Edmond said.

Edmond also values the personality of the University community, comparing it favorably to experiences in the corporate world. "There are diverse, interesting people here…who I find are as competent, educated, and talented as those who work in a for-profit, corporate setting." The relationships he has with his colleagues extend outside the University walls, however, and into his neighborhood. "Hyde Park is a great community to work in and live in."
